GP services have begun in the new Pelsall Village Centre.
The building was completed last week and two of the four doctors that will operate from the site have opened their doors to patients yesterday (December 10).
Work can now start on phase 2 to demolish the old High Street surgery, which is next to the new £4 million centre, to make way for a customer car park. As soon as this is complete, the library and children’s centre will move in. It was part of the planning requirements that the car parking be provided before the library and children’s centre commenced operation.
Councillor Anthony Harris, Walsall Council Coalition portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: “We are now getting to a very exciting phase of the project where GPs are moving in.
“Pelsall Village Centre is a major project that is bringing together key services for the benefit of residents of all ages and follows much hard work and campaigning by the area’s councillors.
“We are on schedule to have the whole project completed just after New Year and are looking forward to it making a real difference to our local communities and the wider area.”
