Police reassure women after alleged assault

Neighbourhood police have sought to reassure women in the village following an alleged sexual assault on the Common last week.

A 38-year-old woman reported that she was attacked last Friday night between 8pm-10.30pm as she walked on the Common in Church Road.

Police are still investigating the incident but have urged women not to worry.

“Assaults of this kind are very rare,” said a spokesman for Walsall Police.

She urged anyone who needed reassurance to give Sergeant Mari Amos a call on 0345 113 5000.
