For parents dreading the half term break – and wondering how to fill the week-long void – Walsall’s Forest Arts Centre is hosting a number of events.
Young film fans can visit Walsall’s Forest Arts Centre for a week of big screen entertainment.
On Monday, October 25 How To Train Your Dragon, which tells the tale of a hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons but soon learns there may be more to them than he first thought, is being screened.
Tuesday’s offering on is Space Chimps 2: Zartog Strikes Back , while Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang will be screened on Wednesday, October 27, starring Emma Thompson as the rather unconventional child minder.
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief concludes the cinema experience on Thursday, October 28.
Tickets cost £2 or £1 concessions.
“The films we’ve chosen are real feelgood family features and we’re sure they’ll have a wide appeal,” says Ruth Bull, operations officer.
The films all start at 11am and no booking is required. People will not be allowed into the auditorium once the film has started.
On Friday, October 29 Kirsten O’Brien, of CBBC SMART fame, will be staging a show for children.
Kirsten O’Brien’s Art! is an interactive, theatre-style show that will see the TV presenter drawing and painting.
And Kirsten, who has also appeared in Saturday Aardvark, and Totally Doctor Who as well as regularly presenting competitions on GMTV, will be available after the shows for a meet, greet and autograph signing session.
Other activities include a sports and leisure programme from £9 per day, per child at Bloxwich and Oak Park Leisure Centres; Halloween-themed events at Walsall Leather Museum and spooky events at Walsall Museum.
Kirsten O’Brien’s ART! is showing at Forest Arts Centre at 11.30am and 2pm on Friday 29 October. Tickets cost £8.50 and £6.50 with a special £25 family ticket for two adults and two children.
