Walsall Council has published the official notice of local elections and the national Alternative Vote referendum that will take place on Thursday, May 5, 2011.
Combined poll cards will now start going out to the residents for the elections. If anyone has not received their poll cards by April 7, they should check with the electoral registration office in Darwall Street on 01922 652030 or 652020. This is the number to call if you are not yet on the electoral register.
Residents must be registered with the council to be able to vote in the local elections and referendum.
The deadline for being included on the electoral register is Thursday, April 14. This date is also the deadline for applications to vote by post.
Voters who want to appoint a proxy voter should submit an application by 5pm Thursday, April 21.
- The referendum will ask people if they would prefer an “alternative vote” system for national elections in which voters would rank candidates in order of preference.
