Campaigners have won £51,000 towards revamping the tired playground on Pelsall Common.
Coun Marco Longhi revealed that the bid by Friends of Pelsall Common and Walsall Council to the Trustees of Cory Environmental Trust has been successful.
It means, with other funding secured from Leylands Farm development, there is a total of £80,000 that can now be spent on upgrading equipment at the playground.
Coun Longhi, who backed the campaign and led an online petition, said he was thrilled the bid beat 33 projects nationwide for the funding.
“Thank you so much to everyone, more good news for Pelsall and for Pelsall children: our future,” he said.
