British Legion supporters in village to mark Armed Forces Day

Supporters of the British Legion will be in Pelsall tomorrow (Saturday, June 25) – Armed Forces Day – to canvas opinion about setting up a new branch in the village.

Jessica Watts, who is Miss Teen Walsall, will be joining Karen Clifft, Alison Vaughan and other volunteers at the village clock or outside the Co-op store between 10am and noon to speak to residents about the scheme.

“You do not have to be a war veteran to be part of a Legion branch or have any connection to the armed forces, just as long as you support our troops,” says Karen, whose husband is a former soldier.

“We are particularly looking at getting the younger generation to join us.”

I am pleased to announce that we had good interest in forming a British Legion Branch and I will now be contacting the County Association to get things moving! We had a collection today for Armed Forces Day and raised 156 pounds for the British Legion!! Thanks to all the helpers and to everyone who donated
