Pupils from Pelsall Village School entertained the Mayor of Walsall’s guests before the homecoming parade of 3rd Battalion the Mercian Regiment (The Staffords) on Thursday.
They joined hundreds of people who lined the streets to give a warm Walsall welcome home to the soldiers.
The troops took part in a homecoming parade in the town to mark the end of their Afghanistan tour of duty and marched through Darwall Street, Tower Street, Lichfield Street and Bridge Street on Thursday 1 December.
Walsall’s local heroes also received their campaign medals from the borough’s Mayor, Councillor Garry Perry.
The Mayor said it had been “an unforgettable day”.
“I don’t think there was a single person watching the parade who didn’t get a lump in their throat or a tear in their eye as we applauded those brave soldiers,” he said.
“It was a real privilege for Walsall to host this parade, it was an unforgettable day.”
