Sponsored walk in honour of mum raises £3000

A sponsored walk that was held to honour a Pelsall mum who died from secondary breast cancer raised more than £3,000.

Wellwishers take part in the sponsored walk to honour Sharon Tyler, who died in the early hours of this morning

More than 100 parents, toddlers and wellwishers participated in the walk on Pelsall Common October 28, just hours after mum Sharon Tyler, aged 34, died at St Giles Hospice Walsall.

Dawn Munday, of Pelsall Children’s Centre, who helped to organise the event, thanked everyone for their generosity.

A cheque for £3044.02 was handed over to Macmillan Cancer Support this week by Sharon’s husband Steve and their toddler son James. Close friends also attended.

“It was very emotional,” said Dawn. “Steve brought along a framed picture of him and Sharon on their wedding day,so that Sharon could be part of this too.”

  1. Steve Tyler says:

Thank you everyone who participated or donated. There was a further £1,000 or so that went directly to Macmillan so it was over £4,000 in total. We will be walking again next year, on Friday 26th October, and all are welcome to take part. Love Steve and James xxx
