A formation meeting of the Pelsall Branch of the Royal British Legion is to be held next month.
It will be held at 8pm on Wednesday, February 15 at Pelsall Community Centre.
Karen Clifft, who is organising the branch in the village, said: “We aim to encourage younger people to join as they are the future of this country and even maybe future serving personnel.
“We already have support off Pelsall Villa Colts as they are showing their support for the British Legion by wearing the poppy on their football kit all season.
“We want to make sure the British Legion is able to carry on its good work and by forming a branch we become one part of that ‘family’.”
For the Pelsall branch to go ahead, there needs to be at least 15 people attend to pass the formation motion.
People are also encouraged to become members of the British Legion, which costs £12.
“Membership of the British Legion lets people to contribute to the excellent work carried out over 90 years to enable support to be given to serving and ex-forces personnel,” explained Karen.
“The Pelsall Branch would like to go one further and also support the families of serving personnel as they are sometimes forgotten.”
