Match report: Red Star Raiders under 10s

Red Star Raiders under 10s report from Sunday, April 22 by Shaun Fallon

Walsall Junior Youth League

Division 1

Red Star Raiders 0 Lane Head Trojans 1

Excellent ground work covered by both squads left little chance at either end. An ever gallant Reece Nunne, alert as ever, ran the midfield for the Raiders in the driving rain. Raiders were drawn into a break from the Trojans and the chance was taken, gifting them the lead in the first half. Tom Day dominated the rear guard and ensured no more got past him in the second half. A tough game and some contentious decisions the referee can look back on.

Star Man: Reece Nunne

Red Star Raiders 1 Sutton Utd Juniors 1

A tough tie for the Star against the cruising top table Sutton United. The Reds, playing some great sets worked in training, unnerved Sutton in the first half. A free kick awarded Red Star gave Jack Hunt the chance to fire a great ball into the box dropping to Lucas Fallon, giving the Raiders the lead into the break. Another gallant battle throughout kept the game tight with Tom Day stepping his defensive duties up yet again. What seemed a great save from Aaron Lester was awarded a goal as he seemed to be bundled over the line taking the disappointing score line level at the finish.
