Arts and crafts people sought for Walsall festival

Pelsall arts and crafts people are being sought to take part in the Walsall Bandstand Marathon and Sportsfest.

Walsall Arboretum is is hosting the event, which will see live performances at bandstands and outdoor performance spaces across the UK all at the same time on the same day – Sunday, September 9, 2012.

As well as a range of music, visitors will also be able to enjoy a guided tour of the restoration work that has been completed so far and the new Gallery Garden.

A Walsall 2012 Sportfest will also be offering a range of activities in the Arboretum Extension, to coincide with the closing ceremony for the Paralympics.

Councillor Anthony Harris, Walsall Council Coalition portfolio holder for leisure, said: “We are keen to attract people who make jewellery, or who want to sell their own paintings or craft items as we’re having stalls on the Centre Green in the Arboretum for the Bandstand Marathon.

“This will be a good opportunity for Walsall’s talented residents to showcase their wares for free.

“We’ve already got someone who makes jewellery who is coming along and we’d like to encourage others to set up a stall in keeping with the arts and crafts and homemade items theme.

“People offering holistic therapies such as Indian Head Massage would also be very welcome.”

Anyone interested in booking a stall at the event is asked to contact Craig Vincent in Walsall Council’s creative development team on 01922 653114.

There is no cost to the stallholder, they just need to contact Craig Vincent at  azalea.events.walsall@gmail.com or 07970 785 686
